He United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced a new immigration policy that toughens the conditions to obtain permanent residence within the United States, by reaffirming that the so-called “adjustment of status” should be granted only in extraordinary circumstances.
The measure, announced by the federal agency itself, represents a stricter turn in immigration policy promoted by the Trump administration and seeks to reinforce the use of consular processing outside the country as the predominant way to apply for an Inexperienced Card.
According to the memo published by USCIS, Immigration officials must evaluate case by case whether a foreigner deserves access to this form of immigration relief within US territory.
