Mercedes-AMG decided to go all out with its new generation of electric sports cars. The German brand officially showed the AMG GT 4 Door Coupea model that does not seek to resemble other electric sedans on the market.

The intention was much more ambitious. They wanted to create a car capable of offering extreme figuresintense sensations and an experience close to that of an AMG with a V8 engine, although there is not a single drop of gasoline under the body.

The result is a huge machine. The new electric GT comes with a three-motor configuration that in its most radical version reaches 1,153 horsepower. That figure immediately places it among the most powerful electric production models on the planet and makes it clear that AMG does not plan to enter the segment with timid proposals.

Acceleration is also impressive. Mercedes-AMG claims that the GT 63 can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2 seconds thanks to the Originate Bear an eye on systemwhile the maximum speed is electronically limited at 186 mph.

A platform created exclusively for high performance

This new sedan uses the AMG.EA architecture, a fully developed substandard for high-performance electric vehicles. The big novelty appears in its axial flow motors, an unprecedented technology within AMG’s electric production models.

Unlike conventional electric motors, this system works with an electromagnetic flow parallel to the axis of rotation. The vital advantage is its compact size, which allows for improved mechanical packaging and optimized weight distribution.

Mercedes-AMG will offer two variants. The first will be the GT 55 with 805 horsepower. Higher up will be the GT 63, which unleashes all the mechanical madness with 1,153 horsepower.

The battery was developed with Formula 1 experience

Another of the most important points of the project is the AMG High Efficiency Electrical Battery. The brand ensures that part of the experience used in this system comes from both the AMG ONE hypercar and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team.

The battery uses 800-volt architecture and features 2,660 individually cooled cylindrical cells. It also incorporates NCMA technology with silicon anodes and ultralight aluminum housings.

According to Mercedes-AMG, the car can sustain its performance even under extreme track driving. Additionally, fast charging promises to recover up to 460 kilometers of autonomy in just 10 minutes using powers of up to 600 kW. Recharging from 10% to 80% can be completed in about 11 minutes.

AMG wants it to still feel like a V8

One of the biggest challenges for AMG has been to preserve the emotional character of its sports cars. That’s why they developed the new AMGFORCE Sport+ modea system that attempts to recreate the sensations of a traditional V8 through digital sound, vibrations and simulated changes.

The brand used more than 1,600 audio files processed in real time to generate a much more intense acoustic experience. Throttle response was also modified to convey a more aggressive feel behind the wheel.

Extreme aerodynamics and an interior loaded with technology

The electric AMG GT 4 Door incorporates active aerodynamic solutions designed to improve performance on the track. Among them appear a active rear diffuser, a smart spoiler, adaptive air suspension, active rear steering and an Airpanel system that regulates air flow for cooling.

Behind closed doors, Mercedes-AMG opted for a completely digital experience. The model debuts the MB.OS operating system along with integrated artificial intelligence and an evolution of the MBUX system capable of personalizing functions and adapting to driving habits.

It also adds specific tools for sports driving, such as professional telemetry, circuit navigation and predictive performance manager. All of this is combined with more luxurious details, such as the Sky Bear an eye on panoramic roof and configurable ambient lighting.

Mercedes-AMG confirmed that the GT 55 will hit the market first during the last quarter of the year. The GT 63 version will appear months later, already entered 2027. Although there is no official price yet, the most extreme variant is expected to be around $150,000 dollars.
