Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and one of the most important partners of said transnational company, maintains that he has nothing to do with Amazon MGM Studios’ decision to pay $40 million for “Melania.” documentary released in movie theaters in February.
This film narrates the days leading up to Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration from the perspective of his wife Melania Knavs.
Due to the importance of the figure of the nation’s first lady, some reports indicate that another $35 million dollars were paid for the promotion and marketing of the film. first in movie theaters in the United States and weeks later through the Amazon Prime platform.
However, the collection figures were far from covering their expenses, since Data was leaked indicating that the film only grossed $16.6 million dollars in cinemas around the world.
Faced with the enormous investment that went into the film where Melania Trump served as executive producer of the project, in March, a large group of Democratic legislators led by Elizabeth Warren, senator from Massachusetts; and representatives Hank Johnson, Dan Goldman, and Ben Ray Luján signed a letter addressed to Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon, asking him to clarify why it had been decided to pay such a large amount of money for a documentary, this with the aim of ruling out an alleged bribery agreement with the Trump Administration.

However, recently, during an interview given to the program “Divulge Box”, which is broadcast on the television network CNBC, Jeff Bezos He defined the investment in the documentary as a “good business decision.”
“It was very successful in theaters. It has also been very successful on streaming platforms. People are very curious about Melania,” he said.
In addition, the second richest man in the worldflatly denied that the film project was an attempt to curry favor with the Trump administration. because during the last elections Bezos did not support the 79-year-old Republican.
“What about Melania is a falsehood that will not disappear. We have denied it. Melania’s office has denied it. It is not true. I had nothing to do with it,” he emphasized.
