bmw wants to give a much stronger identity to Alpine and he has already made it clear where this new stage is heading. The brand took advantage of the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este to show the Vision Notiona conceptual sedan that mixes classic sophistication, futuristic technology and an imposing presence that hardly goes unnoticed.

The presentation has a special weight because it marks the beginning of Alpina’s new know-how under the full control of the BMW Group. And although the top-class market is accelerating towards absolute electrification, the German firm decided to keep alive one of the characteristics that historically defined Alpina, a powerful V8 engine.

The result does not look like a conventional theory automobile designed solely to attract attention at an exhibition. Rather, it conveys the feeling of a car designed to anticipate what the brand’s future luxury sports models will be like.

A huge design full of hidden details

The Alpina Vision Notion measures 5.2 meters long and opts for a low, wide and very stylized silhouette. The drop of the roof is reminiscent of large high-speed European coupes, while the overall proportions seek to convey elegance without visual exaggeration.

At the front appears a futuristic reinterpretation of the classic BMW double grille. Here it adopts a three-dimensional shape integrated into a front inspired by the traditional “shark nose” that the brand used in some historical models.

One of the most interesting aspects of the vehicle is the design philosophy called “Second Read.” BMW explains that the car is full of discreet details that are only discovered by looking at it calmly.

This can be seen in elements such as artwork deco lines hidden under the paint, dark metallic surfaces, minimalist lighting and finishes inspired by luxury watchmaking. Even the traditional Alpina side line was integrated under the clear coat of paint to maintain a clean and sophisticated appearance.

An interior that is more artisanal than digital

While many top-class brands are betting on extremely minimalist interiors, Alpina decided to take another path. The Vision Notion combines advanced technology with traditional materials and a much warmer atmosphere.

The leather used comes from producers in the Alpine region and the stitching is inspired by classic artwork deco patterns. The metallic details mix satin and polished surfaces with techniques similar to those used in high-end watches.

There is even a very striking detail designed to reinforce the luxury experience. BMW Alpina glass cups automatically emerge from the center console using a motorized mechanism.

Technology also plays a leading role thanks to the new BMW Panoramic iDrive system and an exclusive interface created specifically for Alpina. The digital graphics use the brand’s traditional blue and green tones and change intensity depending on the driving mode selected.

A V8 that challenges electrical know-how

Although BMW is already working on a fully electric transition, Alpina still wants to keep the excitement of combustion engines alive. That’s why, The Vision Notion is committed to a V8 that seeks to combine power, refinement and comfort for high-speed trips.

The brand has not yet confirmed complete technical specifications, but made it clear that this conceptual sedan serves as a preview of future production models.

In fact, bmw He already anticipated that there are plans to launch a vehicle inspired by this Vision Notion next year. It is not yet known how much will change compared to the prototype shown in Italy.
