Drake marked his return and the hip-hop world came to a standstill. The rapper returned with three surprise albums: “Iceman”, “Maid of Honor” and “Habititi”.
On the whole, The three projects add up to 43 new songsin which the Canadian rapper opens the doors of his non-public life like few times before.
The confession about his father’s health
One of the most moving moments of the album is found in the song “Develop Them Cry”. There, Drake, whose current name is Aubrey Graham, reveals that his father, Dennis Graham, was recently diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer.
Far from hiding, Dennis Graham responded proudly on Instagram. In the early hours of Friday, he shared a photo of an emotional hug between father and son, accompanied by the message: “The Iceman and the Good Man doing what we do. Let there be no misunderstandings.”
Of course, Drake couldn’t help but address his legendary rivalry with Kendrick Lamar. In “Develop Them Cry,” The rapper reflects on the impact of that confrontation that marked a before and after in the decade.
It is worth remembering that Lamar launched “No longer Love Us”, an overwhelming success that won five Grammy Awards in 2025including Song and Record of the Year. In that song, Kendrick even called Drake a “certified pedophile,” a low blow that resonated strongly in the industry.
Drake responds
“I came here to start over and maybe finally get some sleep, But all I can think about is the mountain I have to climb and the conversations surrounding my music. like they were Twin Peaks. With Dot in 2024 it was an important piece. So it’s like, this shit is me, but it’s not me. You keep asking me what he did to me / That’s what it did to me“says the rapper in his song, according to the Spanish translation.
Also, in another song, “Develop Them Pay,” The artist addresses the disloyalty he perceived in his circle during those difficult months:
“I’m seeing everyone’s true colors, really / I’m feeling a pattern. / I’m bigger than everyone like a little grated cheese,” says part of the piece translated into Spanish.
It is not the first time that Drake opts for an overload of content. The rapper had already surprised the world in 2018 with the unexpected release of his double album “Scorpion.” However, the triple installment of Iceman, “Habibti” and “Maid of Honor” raises the ante to a new level.
The three albums They are now available on all streaming platforms.
