Millions of Xfinity customers in the United States could access financial compensation after Comcast will accept a million-dollar settlement for a data breach that occurred in 2023. The telecommunications company is facing a class-action lawsuit related to a cybersecurity incident that exposed the personal information of current and former users of the service.
The agreement contemplates a fund of $117.5 million dollars and will allow certain affected individuals to request payments of up to $10,000depending on the losses they can demonstrate. The measure has now officially opened the claims process and many of Comcast’s customers have already begun to receive notifications about the incident.
Class Action Lawsuit Alleges Comcast “Failed to Adequately Protect Personal Information” and that it maintained “inadequate data security measures.” Although the company denied any wrongdoing, it decided to reach a financial settlement to resolve the case without continuing with a trial.
