Following the announcement that “Dai Dai” will be the official theme of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Shakira revealed that he composed the song in collaboration with the multi-award-winning British artist Ed Sheeran.
This union marks a unprecedented milestone, fusing the Latin rhythms that characterize the “queen of the world cups” with the melodic sensitivity of the “Form of You” performer.
Through its official channels, it was announced that Sheeran was actively involved in the creation of the lyrics and music. The Briton expressed his enthusiasm on social media: “Thank you for including me in writing this. I love it and I can’t wait for the World Cup to start.”
The song that has not yet been released promises to be an explosive mix of energy and culture, designed to represent the spirit of the event that will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Shakira’s legacy
With “Dai Dai”, Shakira consolidates herself as the artist with the most official contributions in the history of FIFA. This new anthem adds to its historic legacy that includes:
- “Hips Don’t Lie” (Germany 2006).
- “Waka Waka” (South Africa 2010).
- “La La La” (Brazil 2014).
The official launch of the song and its respective video clip — which includes scenes recorded in the emblematic stadium Maracana from Rio de Janeiro—is scheduled for this Thursday May 14.
The production also featured the participation of prominent figures such as Blake Slatkin, reinforcing FIFA’s commitment to a global and multicultural narrative for this tournament.
