Why did they sue Judge Julieta Makintach?
According to the judicial document, Dalma and Gianinna maintain that they suffered strong moral damage after the annulment of the process that investigated the death of Maradonawhich occurred on November 25, 2020.
“We have a direct legitimate interest in the moral damage suffered due to the impact on our father’s memory, honor and right to a fair trial that was frustrated by the unscrupulous actions of the dismissed judge Julieta Makintach,” the plaintiffs stated, according to a document cited by the Clarín newspaper.
The lawsuit also targets the production company ‘La Doble SA’, the interior decorator María Pía Alemán and the screenwriter Juan Manuel D’Emilio, who would be linked to the making of the documentary titled ‘Justicia Divina’, a project that was ultimately never released.
They accuse “illegal and negligent” conduct in the Maradona case
In the judicial presentation, the lawyers of the world champion’s daughters described the judge’s actions as “illegal” and pointed out that her conduct was “careless, irregular, illegal and negligent.”
Makintach was recused from the trial on May 27, 2025, after various evidence related to her alleged participation in the audiovisual production about the case was exhibited. Just two days later, Justice decreed the annulment of the judicial process, which until that moment had accumulated 21 hearings and 44 witnesses.
Subsequently, the judge was dismissed and permanently disqualified from holding positions within the Judiciary.
