Jorge and Paola Ramos discuss Latin challenges

This Thursday, May 14 at 4:00 pm, the Investigative Journalism Lecture Series Prick Beck will present a special conversation with Jorge Ramos and Paola Ramos, who will address some of the most important issues currently facing Latino communities in the United States. The meeting will offer an intergenerational look at identity, politics, social justice and media representation, combining decades of journalistic experience with new cultural perspectives. Jorge Ramos, recognized for years as host of Noticiero Univision, is considered one of the most influential voices in Spanish-language journalism. For her part, Paola Ramos has worked with media such as Vice Media and MSNBC, focusing on issues of Latino identity and belonging. In the Student Union Building of the Los Angeles City College Basis, in the Multi-Reason Room on the third floor. The event is open to the public. Suave Patria Exhibition at the Mexican Consulate

The Total Consulate of Mexico in Los Angeles (2401 W. 6Th St., Los Angeles) opened the exhibition Suave Patria, a group exhibition that explores the cultural landscapes of Mexico from a contemporary perspective. Butterfly season at Kidspace

Alejandro Sanz at the Greek Theater

Carlos Vives at the Peacock Theater

Colombian singer-songwriter Carlos Vives brings to LA his “Tour al Sol” tour, a musical journey that, as its name indicates, follows the path of the sun, from the first ray of dawn, which symbolizes hope and new beginnings; going through midday, full of energy and joy in each performance; until sunset, when nostalgia and magic take over the stage. The shriek will be an encounter with Vives’ musical history, including his unforgettable hits such as “La tierra del olvido”, which is celebrating 30 years of its release. La Sonora Dinamita at SeaWorld

The cumbia band originally from Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, and later based in Mexico City, La Sonora Dinamita, is part of SeaWorld’s Viva La Música concert series (500 SeaWorld Dr., San Diego). Raging Waters opens its doors

Raging Waters Water Park (111 Raging Waters Dr., San Dimas) has already opened its doors with its 25 attractions to kick off the summer season. This weekend’s attendees will be able to enjoy activities like a live DJ set, waterproof face paint, and cotton candy. Open weekends until May 29 and every day from August 16 to September 27. Soap Box Race in DTLA
