Running for public office is not a decision taken lightly; It implies a proper commitment to the community and assuming the sacrifices of public life. Evelina Sarian, candidate for Glendale councilor, embodies that conviction.
In the June 2 primary, 12 candidates are competing for three vacancies.
Sarian, born in Armenia and a resident of Glendale since 1997, is a fashion designer, educator, businesswoman and community advocate. He has two master’s degrees from Woodbury University: in Organizational Leadership and in Business Administration.
He has experience as a teacher at the Otis School of Paintings and Construct; and as dean of the Fremont School, The Paintings Institute, and Idyllwild Arts Academy.
When she launched her campaign in December 2025, she was already considered a leader in the Armenian community. From then on, his message focused on three priorities. The first, maintain public safety: there is a reason why Glendale is one of the safest municipalities in Los Angeles County for its population of around 185,000 residents. Second, reject excessive development of neighborhoods, preferring more parks and open spaces. Finally, stabilize utility costs and ensure that municipal spending prioritizes the needs of residents and expands opportunities for local businesses.
At a recent candidate forum, Sarian said he is running “to represent the voice of residents and make Glendale an even nicer place to live.” We agree.
He has expressed appreciation and respect for the Latino community residing in Glendale (18%), highlighting the melting pot of diversity as one of the city’s advantages.
La Opinión supports the candidacy of Evelina Sarian for the Glendale municipal council and asks its readers in the city to vote for her.
