The Total Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic (FGR) of Mexico reported that in the drug laboratory of the controversial case in Chihuahua where CIA agents allegedly participated More than 55,000 liters of liquid substances and more than 50 tons of chemical precursors were seizedin addition to almost 2,000 liters of methamphetamine.

In addition, various devices for the preparation of synthetic drugs were found, consisting among others of LP gas cylinders, containers, reactors and centrifuges.

On April 19, two agents linked to the United States Embassy and two officials from the State Investigation Agency (AEI) of the state of Chihuahua died in an accident, when they were returning from an operation against a drug laboratory in the municipality of Morelos.

In a statement, the FGR indicated that after the discovery of the clandestine laboratory, an inventory was recorded of all of what was located which, according to the results of the expert opinions “were chemical precursors and essential chemicals, in quantities of more than 55,000 liters of liquid substances and just over 50 tons in solid state; as well as about 2,000 liters of methamphetamine.”

The case generated controversy after the government of the president Claudia Sheinbaum stated that she had no prior knowledge of the participation of US personnel in field work, which could contravene the National Security Law, which prohibits operations by foreign agents without federal authorization.

Federal authorities later confirmed that the US agents did not have accreditation to operate in Mexico, while US media reports, which linked them to the CIA, increased the controversy.

Recently, Sheinbaum supported the FGR’s ongoing investigation and assured that it is “very important to know if there was interference by foreign agents.”
