Metro Los Angeles has everything ready to inaugurate Section 1 of the D Line Extension, scheduled for 12:30 pm this Friday, May 8, with train service at three new stations: Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega.
Since its opening in 1996, Line D has been renewed to maintain fast, frequent and high-capacity servicewhich connects Union Set up with the areas of Westlake, Koreatown, Miracle Mile and the east side of Beverly Hills.

In a statement, Metro Los Angeles reported that on Friday, May 8, between 12:30 pm and 4:00 pm, community celebrations titled āDiscovery Runs Deepā will take place at each of the three new stations, as well as at Wilshire/Western.
The celebrations They will offer local food stalls, craft exhibitions and public information modules, set to DJ music.
To celebrate the occasion, Metro Los Angeles train, bus, bike share and Metro Micro services, They will be free from 4:00 am on Friday, May 8 until 3:00 am on Monday, May 11.

For now, Only Section 1 of the Line D Extension has been inaugurated. Section 2 will reach downtown Beverly Hills and Century City; while Section 3 will reach Westwood Village, with a station next to the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Metro Los Angeles is scheduled to inaugurate sections 2 and 3 in 2027.

The extension of Line D could become a reality after in 2028, More than two-thirds of Los Angeles County voters approved Measure R āa sales tax proposalāthat funded a nine-mile (14.4 km) rail extension to Westwood.

Wilshire Boulevard is one of the most iconic streets in Los Angelesbut had never had any type of train service, west of Western Avenue, the proper terminus of the D Line.
