Gerard Piqué is once again at the center of controversy in Spanish football. The former defender of Barcelona and real maximum shareholder of FC Andorra was punished with two months of disqualification and six games of suspension for the incidents recorded after the duel against Albacete in the Second Division of Spain.
The resolution was confirmed this Wednesday by the Disciplinary Committee of the Steady Spanish Football Federation (RFEF)after analyzing the arbitration report presented by Alonso de Ena Wolf.

Why was Gerard Piqué sanctioned?
The sanction against Gerard Piqué derives from the events that occurred after the defeat of the FC Andorra 0-1 against Albacetea match corresponding to the most recent matchday of the Spanish Second Division.
According to the referee report, the former soccer player addressed the referee body both at half-time and at the end of the match. In the attached report, the referee stated that Piqué uttered phrases such as: “Go out under escort, they are not going to attack you.”
“In another country they would blow you upbut here in Andorra we are a civilized country,” it is added.
The RFEF decided to apply a sanction for minor violence towards the referees, the same infraction for which Jaume Nogués, total and sporting director of the Andorran club, was also punished.
FC Andorra receives multiple punishments after the incident
The consequences for the FC Andorra they did not end with the sanction Gerard Piqué. The Federation also announced the closure of the box and VIP areas of the stadium, spaces where Piqué and Jaume Nogués are usually located to give instructions to the coaching staff during matches.
In addition, Ferran Vilaseca, president of the club, received a four-month disqualification, while Cristian Lanzarote, team delegate, was suspended for three games.
Other members of the coaching staff were also punished:
- Carles Manso, team coach: one game suspension after being sent off in the 90th minute.
- Enrique Agudo, physiotherapist: a match.
- Jonathan Barreal, head of fabric: a meeting.
- Daniel Ortiz, goalkeeping coach: two games.
FC Andorra denied the accusations against Piqué
After the arbitration annex was made public, the FC Andorra issued a statement rejecting the version presented by referee Alonso of Ena Wolf.
The club assured that the events described did not occur in the manner indicated and announced that it would present evidence to defend both Gerard Piqué like the rest of those sanctioned.
The tension between the Andorran team and the refereeing has been constant during the season, marked by various disciplinary controversies.
Gerard Piqué and FC Andorra accumulate sanctions this season
It is not the first time that Gerard Piqué receives a sanction during the real campaign. The former player of Barcelona had already starred in other controversial episodes related to refereeing and conduct in matches of the FC Andorra.
According to official reports, the club accumulates more than $47 thousand dollars in fines throughout the season, a reflection of the constant disciplinary problems that have surrounded the team in the Spanish Second Division.
The new sanction represents another blow to the sporting project headed by Piqué, who continues to be directly involved in the club’s institutional and sporting decisions.
