Although the group of doctors in charge of Rudy Giuliani’s health reports him stable, It was announced that the former mayor of New York was recently connected to a man-made respirator and still remains in critical condition.
On Sunday, a case of pneumonia sent the 81-year-old lawyer to the hospital and since then he has been monitored 24 hours a day because he suffers from a restrictive lung condition, which makes him inhale less air and often feel the lack of it.
Through a statement, Ted Goodman, spokesman for the New York politician, described part of the complicated moment he had to face.
“This condition complicates any respiratory disease, and The virus quickly severely affected his body, requiring mechanical ventilation to maintain an adequate level of oxygen and stabilize his condition. Now he breathes on his own, accompanied by his family and his family doctor,” he explained.
It should be noted that Giuliani’s last few years have turned out to be quite stormy due to some legal troubles swirling around him.
Apart from having been a lawyer for Donald Trump, he chose to become an accomplice in his plan to refuse to recognize the results of the presidential elections held in 2020, where Democrat Joe Biden prevented his re-election.
Giuliani, along with other allies of the New York magnate, dared to point out, without evidence, that fraud had been committed in Georgia and for this reason he ended up being booked into the Fulton County Jail, Georgia, in August 2023, derived from 13 charges filed against him.
However, the hardest thing was having been sued by former electoral employees, since when analyzing the case a judge determined that he had to compensate them with $148 million dollars.
Despite having reached an agreement with his plaintiffs, the stress of seeing his assets squandered took its toll on Rudy Giuliani’s health.
With the aim of compensating for his loyalty, the head of the nation recognized his contribution to American politics and in September awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor that a civilian can aspire to in the United States.
