A wide security deployment is maintained in the state of Tennessee to find the whereabouts of Craig Berry, 44 years oldcharged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting his wife during a domestic altercation.
According to the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, the events occurred early Sunday morning at a home near Ragged Paris Toll road. The victim was taken to a hospital, although his condition has not been officially disclosed.
Before the arrival of the agents, The suspect fled into a heavily wooded area.which began a search operation that has spread across rural areas near the Tennessee-Kentucky border.
Profile of the fugitive raises the alert level
The authorities have warned that Berry, identified as a former special forces member with extensive survival training, represents a high risk. According to investigators, the man was armed with at least one gun and possibly additional ammunition.
Their knowledge of the terrain and abilities to move in adverse conditions have complicated tracking tasks. K-9 teams managed to locate a trail in the vicinity of River Label Avenue, although their trail was later lost.
Footage captured by trail cameras shows the suspect dressed in camouflage clothing, suggesting he may be attempting to evade detection by moving through wooded areas.
The operation involves several institutions, including the Tennessee Toll Road Patrol, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security and the United States Marshals Service.
Authorities have expanded the search perimeter to sectors such as Grey’s Landing and nearby highway corridors, while adjusting their strategies to focus on more specific clues.
Call to the community
Given the uncertainty about the whereabouts of the suspect, Authorities have urged residents to take extreme caution, keep their homes secured and report any suspicious activity.
They also asked owners to review surveillance or tracking cameras on their land, in case they could provide key information to locate the fugitive.
The case continues to develop and authorities reiterate that the suspect should not be approached under any circumstances.
