President Donald trump intensified his criticism of Pope Leo XIV, accusing the pontiff of allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons and also putting Catholics at risk. In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, Trump stated that the actions of the leader of the Catholic Church put his parishioners and the general population at risk.

“I think it is endangering many Catholics, many people,” the president said, adding that the Pope considers it acceptable for Iran to possess nuclear weapons, although he has never said so.

Of course, The Pope, an American citizen, has requested on several occasions the cessation of hostilities and the resumption of negotiations to reach a peace agreement. Although he has not directed explicit or direct criticism at President Trump, Leo XIV implied, without saying it directly, that he did not like how the United States government was acting regarding the war with Iran.

Trump has responded to these comments with direct attacks. Last month he published a message in Truth Social in which he described the Pope as weak on crime and terrible on foreign policy. Catholic members of the administration such as Vice President JD Vance intervened to downplay the Pope’s comments on the conflict, suggesting that the Vatican should limit itself to questions of morality and internal church affairs while the president of the United States dictates foreign policy.

For his part, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will hold a frank conversation with Leo XIV about the discrepancies between Washington and the Holy See regarding the aforementioned war with Iran.

Local climate Vitality in Action is a strategic initiative focused on mobilizing the Latino community in the United States to take urgent and equitable measures against climate change

Local climate Vitality in Action is an organization focused on achieving political progress on climate issues, it has a permanent agenda on our climate progress with special emphasis on investing in clean energy that benefits local communities, holding large corporations accountable for actions that affect our environment. He accompanied us, like a year ago, Antonieta Cádiz, who is executive director of Local climate Vitality at Acción, to talk a little about what the recently celebrated Earth Day represents for our community.

On this Earth Day everything became completely digital unlike previous years. Why was this decision made? What does this change mean for reaching our community?

“It’s a good reflection of where our community is today.. After studies they are showing us that our community is receiving a lot of digital content through social media like YouTubefor example, or Instagram, etc. So, we wanted to respond to that need to find our community where they really live their daily lives. And on the other hand, it was important to do this special while being faithful to who we are as an organization and who we represent. I would tell you that Acción is one of the few groups, possibly the only one that is managing to do this work consistently and effectively. “It is relevant cultural communication, anchored in topics such as climate and its impact on our community,” he said. Antonieta Cadiz.
