The incident occurred shortly after 7:00 am at the FIBA ​​Applied sciences plant, according to state authorities. The cause was a valve failure that caused the release of boron trifluoride, a gas known for its pungent odor and irritating effects.

Evacuations and emergency response

As a preventive measure, Authorities ordered the evacuation of surrounding areas, including businesses located in a nearby industrial park.. Hazardous materials teams managed to contain the leak approximately one hour after the incident was detected.

Images released by the authorities showed a white cloud rising from the facilities, which showed the initial magnitude of the chemical drag.

According to official reports, six plant employees, three first responders and a worker from a nearby company were taken to hospitals after being exposed to the gas. All are in stable condition and with injuries that do not represent an essential risk.

Authorities later confirmed that evacuation and confinement orders were lifted, ruling out any persistent threat to the community.

State agencies continue to evaluate the causes of the incident and the safety conditions at the plant. To date, no major structural damage or significant environmental impacts have been reported.

The case remains under investigation while the industrial safety protocols applied at the facility are reviewed.
