Just over a month before his trial begins, new details related to Jonathan Rinderknecht emerged this weekend, suspected of starting the fire that later caused the Palisades firewhich broke out in January 2025 in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
According to a court memorandum, Jonathan Rinderknecht, 30, was depressed over a relationship with a former coworker and angry for not having plans for New Year’s Eve.
The passengers Rinderknecht transported on the night of December 31, 2024, on an Uber service, said that the defendant was in a bad mood, driving erratically and cursing about his anger at the world.

In the court document, The judicial authorities said that Rinderknecht was obsessed with Luigi Mangionethe man charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and with the fires.
Rinderknetch trial is scheduled to begin on June 8a process in which the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office plans to call up to 50 witnesses to testify, and which can last up to 10 days.
In November 2025, A judge ruled that bail would not be set for Rinderknecht. and had to remain in the custody of the authorities while waiting for the trial to begin.

Judge Rozella A. Oliver’s decision denied bail to Rinderknecht, arguing that he should be under arrest due to his mental health and the suffering he had caused his sister and her family.
Rinderknecht’s father He gave his testimony to make a choice about the liberation of his sondenying that he had mental health problems.
During his Oct. 21 court appearance, Rinderknecht, a resident of Melbourne, Florida, pleaded not guilty to federal charges for destruction of property by fire, arson and wood fire.
