In this context, several electric models already have a farewell date, even before being consolidated.
Projects that never even got off the ground
Some of the most striking decisions come from Sling. The Japanese firm chose to cancel the electric Acura RSX before it could settle. This SUV promised all-wheel drive, a dual engine and a fairly sporty approach, but the scenario did not suit.
Something similar happened with the Honda 0 Seriesa model family that included sedans and SUVs with next-generation technology. The brand itself recognized that launching them at this time implied a financial risk that was difficult to assume.
Models that turn off after a short time
The BMW i4 It also enters the list of farewells. Although it was one of the most interesting electric cars in its segment, its cycle will close between 2025 and 2026. LBMW’s strategy now points to more modern platforms.
Another important case is Chevrolet Drag. This model managed to position itself as one of the most popular accessible electric cars, but Celebrated Motors He has already decided that his stage will end towards 2027. The company seeks to reorganize production and focus on other segments.
There are also movements in Korea. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 lost commercial momentum, especially after changes in incentives. The standard version will not continue, although sportier variants could remain.
The Kia Niro EVone of the brand’s electric pioneers, also says goodbye. It never achieved strong sales figures and the brand decided to redirect resources towards other more competitive models.
Luxury is not spared either
Not even exclusive brands are immune to this adjustment. Lamborghini decided to cancel the Lanzador, his ambitious electrical project. The reason was direct, the demand was practically non-existent and continuing did not make economic sense.
The project Sony Afeeladeveloped together with Slingwas also put on indefinite hiatus. Despite the initial expectation, the reality of the market forced us to rethink priorities.
Other names like the Volkswagen ID.4 or the Volvo EX30 They also face changes in their production depending on the market. In parallel, models such as the Hyundai Kona EV They go on temporary pause due to excess inventory.
All this does not mean that the electric car is in decline, rather it reflects a stage of adjustment where brands seek balance between innovation, real demand and profitability.
