What recently seemed like an idea straight out of a movie is now beginning to take real shape. Xpeng brought to the Beijing Auto Exhibit 2026 a model that breaks with everything known and, far from remaining a simple exhibition, it is already generating concrete sales.

The interest is not minor. The Chinese brand confirmed more than 7,000 reservations for its flying vehicle, with a rate of around 90 units per day.

It is not a minor fact if you take into account that it is a completely different proposal from what we understand by automobile.

A concept that mixes earth and air

The so-called Land Aircraft Carrier It is not a conventional car with some futuristic extra. It is a modular system that combines a ground vehicle with an integrated electric aircraft.

The irascible part functions as a kind of mother unit with six wheels, designed to transport a small two-seat flying device inside. When the user needs it, that aircraft is deployed and can operate independently.

The idea opens up a range of interesting possibilities. From avoiding urban traffic to covering long distances in a completely different way, the concept aims to change the logic of commuting.

The impact of the Beijing Auto Exhibit 2026

Staging played a key role in the success of the model. At the Beijing Auto Exhibit 2026, thousands of people were able to come to the Xpeng booth, try flight simulations and see real-time demonstrations.

That direct contact helped the proposal stop seeming distant. What previously sounded like an experiment began to be perceived as a tangible alternative, at least for certain uses and markets.

Furthermore, Beijing has become the ideal setting for this type of launch. Brands don’t just showcase products, they also present complete visions of what mobility could be in the coming years.

A project that is already looking at production

Beyond the media impact, the interesting thing is that Xpeng is already working on bringing this vehicle to commercial reality. The company is developing specific facilities for its manufacturing, which indicates that the project is quite advanced.

The estimated price is around $250,000 dollarsclearly positioning it in an exclusive segment. Even so, the number of reservations shows that there is a public willing to bet on this type of solutions.

The brand aims to start deliveries in an initial phase in the short term, with the intention of scaling production towards 2027.

One more step towards another form of mobility

The challenge now is not just technical. Regulation and safety will be key factors so that these vehicles can operate normally in different markets.

Even with those barriers, Xpeng’s move makes one thing clear. Mobility is entering a new stage where the borders between air and road are beginning to blur.
