For him main event this May 2 in Las Vegas between the champion, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez and the “Monster” David Benavidez The forecasts mostly favor the second but for one of the greatest legends of Mexican boxing things could have a bit of a surprise.
“I know “Zurdo” Ramírez well and I know David Benavídez well. Many people believe that Benavídez is going to deal with Zurdo and they are very wrong with all due respect”said Julio Cesar Chavez in Las Vegas where Ramírez, WBA and WBO cruise champion, will defend his titles against Benavídez in the T-Cell Enviornment.
The great Mexican champion recognized that Benavídez will come stronger due to the weight issue since he will rise to 200 pounds, however he warned that it will not be until the fight that we will actually see how much of a difference that bid will make in the fight.
“They are underestimating Zurdo Ramírez, if Zurdo comes well prepared and if Zurdo comes out with determination he will scare them”added the Mexican legend.
Chávez also noted that Benavídez must be cautious with his aggressiveness.
“It is true that Benavídez throws a lot of punches but be careful with Zurdo because although he is not fast, if he is a boxer who is always thinking and throws punches with bad intentions, if he lands one of those, be careful that the fight could take another direction,” Chavez concluded.
