A Los Angeles County school district reached a preliminary agreement this Wednesday with a teachers union to end a strike that lasted about two weeks, affecting a long way of students, officials said.
According to the Little Lake Education Association (LLEA), Teachers resumed classes this Thursday in schools in Santa Fe Springs, Norwalk and certain areas of Downey. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
This Wednesday was the third consecutive day of meetings at the negotiating table between representatives of the Little Lake Metropolis School District and the LLEA.

The school district serves just under 3,700 students distributed in seven elementary schools and two middle schools in some areas of Santa Fe Springs and Norwalk, and a small area of Downey.
The teachers They fought to reduce their health care costs, protect class sizes and obtain additional support for students with special educational needs.
“Educators Fought to Protect Class Sizes and Succeededafter the district proposed increasing them to the maximum allowed by California law,” said the Little Lake Educators Association, a union that represents teachers.

The LLEA mentioned that it was also achieved Additional support for Little Lake’s growing population of students with special educational needsafter the school district initially rejected the request.
“Besides, educators also struggled to reduce their high healthcare expensesas the district cut benefits mid-year, forcing them to pay up to $1,400,” the union added.
The LLEA representatives said that the ratification, by the union members, will begin after the preliminary agreement is finalized.

The Little Lake Metropolis School District said the agreement reflects significant progress and renewed attention to what matters most: restore stability for students.
“(With the agreement) supporting our teachers and getting educators back into the classroom as soon as possiblewhile maintaining the fiscal responsibility necessary to protect the long-term stability of the district,” school officials said.
