Before a federal court in San Diego, California, Jaime Ernesto Álvarez González, immigrant of Mexican origin who for years resided in Southern California with an expired tourist visa, He pleaded guilty to charges related to impersonating a border agent, possession of firearms and illegal stay in the United States.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Justice, on January 8, Álvarez González followed a Border Patrol agent while both were driving black Ford F-150 pickup trucks.
At a certain part of his journey, the officer believed that the vehicle next to his belonged to another legitimate federal agent and therefore chose to abandon his mission as he intended to avoid entering into a conflict.
However, there were already some reports indicating that, on previous occasions, Álvarez González had insulted real officers, demanding that they leave the area he was supposedly patrolling.
Given this situation, an operation was organized by agents of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) to confront it.
In this way, it was discovered how he was impersonating the USBP non-public, but in addition, when searching the vehicle in which he was traveling, three firearms were discovered.
When cornered, Álvarez confessed to being Mexican and having been residing in California for several years with an expired visa, which did not allow him to acquire, much less carry, any type of weapon.
