The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, stated this Wednesday that The United States fabricates “pretexts with weak and fallacious arguments” by accusing the island of facilitating the presence in its territory of military and intelligence services of “adversaries” of the North American country.
“Cuba is a peaceful country that does not attack others, does not allow its territory to be used against others and has a clean record against terrorisminternational organized crime and violence,” wrote the head of Cuban diplomacy on his social networks.
The Cuban Foreign Minister’s statements take place after the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, stated the day before that Cuba facilitated the presence of military bases and intelligence services of “the adversaries” of the United States 90 miles (145 kilometers) from its territory.
Rubio made these statements in an interview with the Fox Data network and assured that President Donald Trump’s Administration will not “tolerate” these types of actions.

The US Secretary of State’s statements were released the same day that the Senate rejected a Democratic proposal to limit possible military operations that Trump may order on Havana.
In this regard, Rodríguez described this Wednesday as “absurd” that the US State Department alleges that Cuba, a “relatively small developing country subject to a brutal economic war,” represents “a threat to the greatest military, technological and economic power in the world.”
The Cuban minister stressed that these arguments “are already known to the US government and its security and defense agencies.”
The Trump Administration has intensified pressure on Havana in recent months with an oil blockade and the call to seek an agreement, focused on economic and political reforms. EFE
