The long-awaited film adaptation of the classic novel “Wuthering Heights,” directed by filmmaker Emerald Fennell and starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, is preparing for its landing on streaming platforms.
HBO Max officially announced that the romantic drama, which has already caused people to talk about both its risky style and its commercial success, It will be available on the service starting May 1.
The next day, May 2, the film will have its premiere on HBO’s linear signal. In an inclusive measure, an exclusive version with American Sign Language (ASL) will be launched on HBO Max that same date, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
A box office and critical phenomenon
Produced by Warner Bros. and based on Emily Brontë’s masterpiece published in 1847, the film hit theaters on February 13 and surpassed $240 million at the global box office, consolidating itself as one of the most profitable releases of the genre so far this year.
The cast, in addition to Robbie and Elordi, includes names such as Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes and Ewan Mitchell.
The direction and script are by Fennell, known for her work on “Promising Young Girl”, who also serves as a producer alongside Margot Robbie and Josey McNamara within the framework of the collaboration between the production companies LuckyChap and MRC.
In the plot, Robbie plays Catherine Earnshaw, while Jacob Elordi plays the tormented Heathcliff. The story follows the couple’s destructive and passionate relationship, marked by obsession, jealousy and revenge in the gloomy residence that gives the novel its title.
Margot Robbie remains one of the most established actresses in Hollywood. Among his recent works includes her participation alongside Colin Farrell in the 2025 Sony film, “A Well-known Courageous Aesthetic Shuffle”. For its part, Jacob Elordi currently stars in the third season of the hit HBO series, “Euphoria,” and is preparing to appear on the big screen this year with “The Dogs Stars”the new project from renowned director Ridley Scott.
