The Águilas del América will receive Club Atlas on the last day of the regular round of Clausura 2026. The Banorte Stadium will be the scene of the duel that will decide the future of the azulcrema team. There are results that could leave America out.
The azulcrema team is in sixth place in the total classification. The Águilas del América accumulate 25 points from 7 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses. Until now, América is located in the classification positions (top 8), but the Atlas Club, the UANL Tigres, the Tijuana Xolos and the León Club They still have options to overcome them.
Scenarios that classify America
The most favorable contexts for André Jardine’s team are two: victory and draw. With these results the Eagles of America would add 26 or 28 points. This places them among those classified automatically because Tijuana, León and Tigres (all with 22 points) will not be able to catch up.
The problem is in a defeat of the Eagles of America. By falling at the Banorte Stadium, the azulcremas would be left with 25 units. This would allow the Club Atlas surpass them in points with 26. In this sense, the azulcremas should be attentive to other results.
In case of defeat, América should at least win that two of the teams involved in the fight do not add up to three units (Tigres, Tijuana and León). The university team will face Mazatlán; the Xolos will face the Chivas de Guadalajara, leader of the tournament; León will face Toluca.
However, the “Esmeralda” team has the least chance of overcoming América, even with the victory against Toluca. Club León has -7 in goal differential; America has a +4 in this line.
