The government of Mexico, through the Security Cabinet, issued a press release in which it expresses its deepest regret for the death of four people —two state elements and two US agents—during the accident that occurred in Chihuahua on April 19.
“The Government of Mexico reaffirms its respect and consideration for the deceased, as well as its institutional support for their families and the corresponding authorities,” the note states.
Likewise, he reported that, according to the available immigration records, one of the foreigners entered the country as a visitorwithout permission to carry out paid activities, and the other with a diplomatic passport.
“None had formal accreditation to participate in operational activities in national territory,” the statement added.
In addition, it was specified that the Government of Mexico, the institutions that make up the Security Cabinet and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs They were not aware that foreign agents were operatingor were to physically participate, in some operational action within the national territory.
“In that sense, the corresponding reviews are carried out in coordination with the competent local authorities and with the United States Embassy in Mexico.”
Finally, the statement reiterates that does not allow the participation of foreign agents in operations within the national territory.
“International cooperation in security matters is developed through information exchange mechanisms, institutional coordination and technical collaboration, always with absolute respect for national sovereignty, reciprocity, mutual trust and without subordination.”
