Xbox has just given one of the best news of the year for avid gamers. The company announced a official price reduction of your subscription plans Sport Bound. And the best thing is that the change applies from today, without detours or distant effective dates.

The decision did not come out of nowhere. For weeks, the rumor circulated strongly in the gaming community, and everything indicated that something big was about to be announced. Now it is official, and the reaction from users on social networks was immediate: Thousands of players celebrated the news as a historic change of direction for Xbox.

Xbox CEO admitted in internal memo that Sport Bound was too expensive

Before the public announcement, something important happened behind closed doors at Microsoft. Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Xboxacknowledged in an internal memo that the price of Sport Bound “generation too expensive” for the players. The document, which was later published by specialized media such as The Verge, makes it clear that the company took the complaints of its community seriously.news.

In that same memo, Sharma noted that Xbox needed an improved value proposition and that Sport Bound had to evolve towards a more flexible and accessible model. This is no small feat coming from the head of Microsoft’s video game division: it’s basically an acknowledgment that the latest price increases—which took the notion Closing to as high as $29.99 dollars per month— did not go down well with users.

In less than two years, Sport Bound Closing had gone from $14.99 to $29.99 dollars monthlythat is, its price doubled. It was inevitable that pressure from subscribers—and the company’s internal data—would end up generating a response.

These are the new Sport Bound prices starting today

Here’s what really interests players. According to the official announcement The new prices come into force this April 21, 2026:

  • Sport Bound Closing: loss of $29.99 to $22.99 per month — a reduction of $7 dollars per month
  • PC Sport Bound: loss of $16.49 to $13.99 per month

Xbox clarified that prices may vary by regionso users in Latin America should review the specific settings for their country. But the direction is clear: down.

We must mention a detail that not everyone will celebrate equally. New Name of Accountability games will no longer be available on Sport Bound on launch day. Starting this year, new titles in the saga will arrive on the service approximately one year after its release —in the following holiday season—. Of course, all Name of Accountability games that are already in the catalog will remain available without changes.

What Sport Bound Closing includes with the new price

Despite the reduction, Xbox did not cut profits in the idea Closing. Subscribers continue to have access to:

  • Hundreds of games on Xbox and PC consoleincluding Name of Accountability titles now available
  • Releases on day one of great titles
  • Online multiplayer on console
  • Benefits within games (in-sport perks)

That is to say, the offer remains robust. The company also recalled that it maintains other plans such as Sport Bound Top price and Sport Bound Essentialdesigned for different types of players and pockets.

Xbox closed its statement with a sentence that sounds quite direct by corporate standards: “This decision responds to many solutions we have received. We will continue listening and learning.”

The ball is now in the players’ court. With lower prices and a catalog that remains one of the largest in subscription gaming, Xbox has a good opportunity to win back users who unsubscribed in recent months due to the high cost of the service. If the company delivers on its promise to continue listening to its community, this reduction could be just the first step in a broader strategy to stay competitive against services like PlayStation Plus or EA Play Expert.
