A man with a criminal record, identified as Kevin Faux, 24, was arrested after being identified as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of eight-month pregnant woman in Houston, Texas.

The arrest was carried out without incident by the United States Marshals Carrier in New Orleans, as confirmed by the police to the Fox News portal.

The victim and his disappearance

The victim, Ashanti Allen, 23, was reported missing on April 10.

According to authorities, the young woman — who had an eight-month high-risk pregnancy — was last seen leaving her residence in Houston.

His body was found on April 16, which began a homicide investigation.

Police confirmed that Faux was the father of the victim’s unborn child.

After the body was found, he was identified as the vital suspect in the case and later charged with capital murder.

At this time, the official cause of death has not been revealed.

Criminal history and controversy over release

Court records indicate that Faux had a history of assaults, including assault with a deadly weapon in 2019, minor assault in 2021 and two assault cases in 2025 linked to the victim.

The suspect had been imprisoned in September 2025 for these events and sentenced in February to 280 days in prison.

However, he obtained a reduced sentence through a system of prison credits, which allowed him to regain his freedom early.

The victim’s mother expressed ignorance of the suspect’s violent history.

“If I had known, he would never have approached my daughter,” she declared.

The case has generated shock in the community and reopens the debate on early release mechanisms for people with a history of violence.

The authorities are keeping the investigation open while requesting citizen collaboration to clarify the facts.

The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Houston Police Department.
