About eight children between one and fourteen years old died in a mass shooting that took place in the early hours of this Sunday in the city of Shreveport, in the southern state of Louisiana, according to reports from the Police of that town, which described the event as a “domestic altercation.”
A total of ten people were shot during the incident, according to police spokesman Christopher Bordelon, who reported that the suspect fled in a stolen vehicle and was killed by officers during the chase.
““We believe he is the only individual who fired shots.”Bordelon stated in reference to the alleged perpetrator.
The only survivors of the shooting are two adult women, one of them with serious injuries that put her life in danger, according to local media.
Crime scene is “extensive” and encompasses about three homes in the Cedar Grove neighborhood of Shreveportspecified Bordelon, who warned that the investigation is in its initial stage and that all the information is preliminary.
The police spokesperson did not offer details about the identities of the victims or the suspect, although he noted that several of the minors “were his descendants.”
“This is a tragic situation, perhaps the most tragic situation we have ever experienced”said Tom Arceneaux, mayor of this northwest Louisiana city of about 180,000 people. “It’s a gross morning,” he lamented. EFE
