Gilberto Morafrom the Xolos of Tijuana, who barely recovered from a bothersome pubalgia and Marcel Ruiz of Toluca, who did the same after breaking the cruciate ligament in his left knee, would be included in the squad list which will be announced next week ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Both players will be tested in the preparation process that will begin on May 6 of their respective injuries in order to check if they are one hundred percent and there is no risk of a relapse at the moment. that could be included in the final list for the long-established FIFA tournament that must be announced before June 4.
Both Mora and Ruiz had these setbacks that caused their presence in the World Cup to remain a big question mark and where Chivas will apparently be the Liga MX team that contributes the most players to the Tricolor, with the call of goalkeeper Raúl “Tala” Rangel, Ricky Ledezma, Luis Romo, Brian Gutiérrez, Roberto Alvarado and Armando “Hormiga” González.
Other teams that would contribute players to the national team in this first stage of preparation prior to the World Cup, which will include preparation duels against Ghana on May 22 in Puebla, Australia, May 29 in Pasadena, California, and Serbia on June 4 in the city of Toluca, State of Mexico, they are América, Cruz Azul and Toluca.
The Liga MX players who would be called to this first 40-day work stage before the World Cup are: Goalkeepers: Raúl “Tala” Rangel (Chivas) and Carlos Acevedo (Santos Laguna); Defenses: Ricky Ledezma (Chivas), Luis Romo (Chivas), Jesús Gallardo (Toluca), Israel Reyes (America), Everardo López (Toluca); Midfielders: Erik Lira (Cruz Azul), Marcel Ruiz (Toluca), Carlos Rodríguez (Cruz Azul), Alexis Vega (Toluca), Erick Sánchez (América), Brian Gutiérrez (Chivas), Roberto Alvarado (Chivas), Gilberto Mora (Xolos Tijuana); Forwards: Armando González (Chivas) and Guillermo Martínez (Pumas).

Guillermo Ochoa of AEL Limassol would join this list, which apparently will release him before the time established by FIFA and subsequently the elements that are active in Europe will be integrated, such as the case of Johan Vázquez (Genoa), César Montes (Lokomotiv), Edson Álvarez (Fenerbahçe), Luis Chávez (Dinamo), Orbelin Pineda (AEK Greece), Julián Quiñones (Al-Qadsiah), Raúl Jiménez (Fulham), Santiago Giménez (AC Milan) and Germán Berterame (Inter Miami).
There is doubt about Mateo Chávez from AZ Alkmaar, César Huerta from Anderlecht and Rodrigo Huescas from Copenhagen, to see if they can recover from the injuries they suffered in the last semester.
