Former federal Health Secretary, Xavier Becerra, registers an increase in interest among voters on the way to the race between Democrats to govern California, after the resignation of Eric Swalwell over accusations of sexual abuse.

Reports provided by this newspaper reveal that Becerra’s campaign has generated more than six million impressions on all social media platforms in the last few days.

That includes more than 2.7 million views on Instagram and 148,000 views on his profile, confirming voters’ interest in seeking another option.

In addition, Becerra registers approximately one million views on TikTok with 244,000 “likes”; 940,000 impressions in X, which means an increase of +2000%.

There is also growth in Threads, which is now among the top Democratic accounts, according to the report, and strong growth in Becerra’s Spanish-language account on TikTok, which he launched at the beginning of his campaign.

This rebound is especially valuable given the profile of Becerra, who has already won state elections in California before serving as Secretary of Health and Human Services, and is now gaining popularity among younger and online audiences following the change in the electoral race,” the report highlights.

In addition to its increase in social networks, Becerra has an increase in donations with more than $500,000 dollars coming from nearly 12,000 contributions, with an average donation of $42 dollars on average.

Of the donations, 97% are first-time contributors to Becerra’s campaign, although new polls could reveal whether the Democratic candidate’s rise continues heading into the primary election on June 2.

For now, a recent report from Emerson School Polling, a survey conducted between April 14 and 15, places Becerra in fourth position among voters.

The list is led by conservative commentator Steve Hilton with 17%; followed by fellow Republican Chad Bianco, Riverside County Sheriff, and Democrat Tom Steyer, both with 14%, while Becerra obtained 10% of voting intention, along with Katie Porter.
