The president donald trump once again placed himself at the center of international controversy after launching a new message in which directly criticizes Pope Leo XIV and toughens his speech against Iran.

Through Truth Social, Trump questioned the position of the leader of the Catholic Church, who in recent weeks has insisted on calls for peace in the face of escalating tensions in the Middle East. In his message, the president assured that the Pontiff should be informed about what he described as a violent repression in Iran.

“Could someone inform the Pope Leo XIV that Iran has killed at least 42,000 protesters innocent and completely unarmed in the last two months?” Trump wrote. Along the same lines, he added that it is “absolutely unacceptable that Iran possesses a nuclear bomb.”

The message, which also included his now characteristic slogan “America is back!”, has generated mixed reactions in both the political and religious spheres. Analysts point out that it is a new escalation in the tone of Trump’s speechespecially on sensitive international issues.

According to reports reported by different media, tensions between the United States and Iran have increased in recent months, particularly around the development of the Iranian nuclear program and complaints about internal repression.

However, specialists warn that some of the Figures mentioned in Trump’s message have not been confirmed independently by international organizations.

For its part, the Vatican has maintained a constant stance of call for dialogue and de-escalation. He Pope Leo XIV has insisted on the need to avoid further confrontation, favoring diplomatic solutions to armed conflicts.

While Trump opts for a firm and confrontational speech, the Vatican continues to promote peace as the central axis of its intervention.
