Sabrina Carpenter Not only did he headline the first night of Coachella 2026; completely transformed the Californian desert into “SabrinaWood”a universe where classic Hollywood, suspense and Technicolor came together on the main stage.
The singer gave a performance that kept her promise tor “the most ambitious show I have ever done”as he had announced to his fans under the slogan #Sabchella.
A black and white journey
The concert began with a black and white short film that paid tribute to classic cinema. Carpenter appeared as a mysterious “Hitchcock blonde,” driving a classic 1950s car down a lonely road while Kool & the Gang’s “Hollywood Swinging” played.
In a clear reference to “Psycho”, police lights appeared in the rearview mirror. The vehicle stopped for a creepy agent played by “Landman” star Sam Elliottwho questioned her with his characteristic deep voice.
After escaping that tense scene, the singer arrived at a drive-in that turned out to be the Coachella pageant itself. As he got out of the car, the black and white image exploded in Technicolor, in an obvious allegory to “The Wizard of Oz” (1939).
After this scene, she appeared in a bright red minidress (a possible nod to Dorothy’s ruby slippers), The pop star opened his musical repertoire with “House Tour,” a single from his album “Man’s Supreme Friend.”
memorable moments
One of the most talked about moments of the night came with Susan Sarandon’s cameo. The 77-year-old actress appeared sitting in a classic car inside a drive-in to offer a dramatic monologue of almost seven minutes. Playing an aged version of Carpenter herselfSarandon reflected on “what it was like to be a star” in his glory days.
The scene was comically interrupted by Corey Fogelmanis, Carpenter’s former partner on “Girl Meets World,” who appeared as a waiter to give her the bill and say goodbye before finishing her shift.
The show continued with more surprises. At the end of “Mattress Chem,” the stage’s electricity suffered a mysterious short circuit. The person in charge of the repair was not just any technician, but Will Ferrell.
But The most unexpected moment came with Samuel L. Jackson’s voice-over. “Hello, Coachella, I’m your spiritual guide,” the actor declared. “I am here to take you on this journey to relaxation.”
With this high-level show, Carpenter showed why he is one of the most creative figures in pop music. His time at Coachella 2026 will be recorded as one of the most original and box-office performances in the history of the pageant.
