The directive of Cruz Azul would have requested the company Televisa, administrator through Grupo Ollamaniof the Banorte Stadium (Azteca), use the renovated stage in the two remaining games of the Clausura 2026 tournament and in part of the league for the title, but the response was not favorable.
According to information handled by the American sports channel ESPNthe leaders of Cruz Azul considered the option of playing some games on the stage that as of next June 11 will become a three-time World Cup, but the response was not what was expected when they argued that they do not want to load this stage with activity.
Even the leadership of the “Celestial Machine” raised the option of using this iconic stage in the second leg of the Concachampions against LAFC, where they are down 0-3, but their option was rejected and they will have to continue using the Cuauhtémoc stadium in Pueblawhere the coaching staff headed by Argentine Nicolás Larcamón has already complained about the lack of rest of its players and that they are affected by the journeys to play in this scenario.
According to the American channel, “La Maquina” entered into talks with Grupo Ollamani to return to the Banorte Stadium as its home, just as Membership América will do starting this Saturday, April 11. However, an agreement could not be reached to materialize this request.
But the response they got at the Noria was not what they expected, since they argued that the building that will host a World Cup for the third time was that they do not want to wear out the facilities and that it can only be used in mid-May. Therefore, the cement leadership must adjust its logistics to the city of Puebla.
Date Splicing
According to Cruz Azul’s request to play at Azteca, Banorte Stadium officials argued supposedly the refusal that they would be linked to American gamesespecially the duel on date 15 against Toluca, where the Machine will face Xolos de Tijuana.
This element was the determining factor to prevent the return of the Celestial Machine to what was his home for a long time.
