Like a plane whose engine suddenly shuts down and begins to plummet into free fall, Democrat Eric Swalwell’s candidacy for governor of California is reeling from the sudden emergence of accusations brought forward by some women alleging sexual misconduct against him.
The most serious thing about the case uncovered by the San Francisco Yarn newspaper is that one of the victims claims to have been sexually attacked by the politician.
The newspaper mentions that a former employee of Swalwell’s alleged that he sexually assaulted her on two occasions when she was too drunk to give consent. Initially, that would have happened in 2019 and again in 2024.
Through a statement sent to the complainant media, Eric Swalwell denied the allegations against him.
“These accusations are false and come on the eve of an election in which the favorite for governor faces Swalwell.
For almost 20 years, I have served the public, as a prosecutor and congressman, and I have always protected women,” part of the text states.
Following the scandal that broke out, The gubernatorial hopeful’s campaign was removed from the Democratic Party’s predominant fundraising platform.
In addition, Jimmy Gómez and Adam Gray, both campaign co-chairs, chose to present their respective complaints to him, while the main leaders of the Democratic Party urged him through a statement to end his candidacy.

In this regard, Nancy Pelosi, former speaker of the House of Representatives, issued a statement published by her spokesperson on platform
“This extremely sensitive matter must be properly investigated with full transparency and accountability. As I discussed with Congressman Swalwell, it is clear that the best way to do this is outside the context of a gubernatorial campaign,” part of the document states.
It should be noted that various opinion polls placed Swalwell as a favorite to become the Democratic candidate for governor. However, as accusations against him arise, it seems that everyone is looking for a way to distance themselves from the Democrat.
In fact, Democratic Senators Rubén Gallego and Adam Schiff, as well as Representative Ted Lieu, also announced that they were withdrawing their support for Eric Swalwell.
According to the television network CNN, There are four women who dared to denounce the Democrat’s alleged inappropriate behavior Iowa native interested in governing California.
