The Chivas de Guadalajara and the UNAM Pumas tied 2-2 in a game held at Akron Stadium. The goal that opened the scoring was Uriel Antuna at minute 21. Antuna he did not celebrate his score and explained the reasons that motivated him to hold back.
Uriel Antuna did not celebrate his goal against Chivas and apologized with an obvious gesture with his hands. The most obvious reason for this decision is for his past in the Sacred Flock. But Uriel Antuna had already scored a goal against Chivas with the Cruz Azul shirt and Their celebration was very euphoric.
“At the time I made a mistake, great teams respect each other… Everyone practically respects each other. In a moment of frustration, surely, I made that mistake and well… I said it when I was in Cruz Azul, I apologize to the fans, to everyone for celebrating in that way, I think it is not an appropriate celebration for such a great institution that deserves respect”Antuna said after the game.
On matchday 16 of Clausura 2023, Uriel Antuna scored a goal against Rebaño Sagrado with the Cruz Azul shirt. On that occasion, Antuna kissed the shield of “La Maquina” and shouted the goal to the Chivas de Guadalajara fans. This attitude did not go down well and received criticism on social networks.
Now at 28 years old, Uriel Antuna shows a much more mature face. The Mexican forward has not experienced great moments since leaving the Sacred Flock. In fact, Antuna’s last goal was in April 2025 when he was defending the colors of the UANL Tigers (the felines won 3-2 against the Los Angeles Galaxy).
But Uriel Antuna’s last goal in Liga MX dates back to May 23, 2024. Antuna was a Cruz Azul player and scored a goal against the Águilas del América in the first leg of the Clausura 2024 final.
Almost two years later, Uriel Antuna once again shook the networks within the framework of Mexican soccer. Even though the Pumas could not get the three points, Efraín Juárez’s team remains in direct classification positions for the Liguilla.
