The president Donald Trump said that tonight “a civilization will die,” as a new warning against Iran if he does not reach an agreement that includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Tonight an entire civilization will die, never to return,” Trump wrote in Fact Social. “Tonight we will find out, in one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world.”
He added that he did not want that to happen, but perhaps it will happen, amid questions about possible violations of international law, as raised by UN experts.
“The United States and Israel should stop waging and expanding warsand to be considered above international legality,” stated the UN experts on March 12.
During Trump’s press conference at the White House this Monday, the president was asked by New York Cases journalist Zolan Kanno-Youngs if the bombings of Iran’s infrastructure were not considered war crimes.
Trump did not respond directly and hesitated for a moment: “No, not at all. No, I won’t. I hope I don’t have to,” Trump.
According to a report from the AP agency, The US Army attacks Kharg Island again before the deadline imposed by Trump. This island is important for the Iranian oil industry. Trump had previously said he would not attack her, but his position has constantly changed.
The US attacks against Iran began on February 28 and experts consider that it was “a clear violation of the United Nations Charter.”
“The conduct of the war and statements by US officials also raise serious concerns about violations of international humanitarian law, including possible war crimes,” indicated 100 experts, according to a report by the organization Correct Security. “We write to express our deep concern about the serious violations of international law and the alarming rhetoric of the United States, Israel and Iran in the ongoing armed conflict in the Middle East.”
The destruction of infrastructure, experts say, is one of the most worrying issues in military operations against the Iranians.
