This week, through its website, la Food and Drug Administration (FDA) alerted U.S. consumers about the recall of Sugar Foods LLC brand home-style cheese and garlic croutons sold at Kroger due to possible salmonella contamination.
According to the health entity, after an investigation it was determined that the recalled product is related to contaminated milk powder from the third-party distributor California Dairies Inc.
On April 30, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture also warned about the contamination of powdered milk from the same manufacturer.
However, the croutons were not the only ones affected by the contamination; other foods related to milk powder, such as frozen pizzas sold at Aldi, ranch seasoning with parmesan from the renowned brand Blackstone Products and potato chips from the Zapp’s and Dirty brands, among others.
In this regard, The FDA indicated in the statement that “out of an abundance of caution, and because this milk powder was used in a condiment supplied to Sugar Foods, the company is initiating this recall. “Sugar Foods is recalling this product based on the ingredient supplier’s recall request.”he highlighted.
According to the manufacturer, The croutons were sold in 17 US states and distributed between March 7 and April 7, in 5-ounce containers under UPC code 0 11110 81353 4.
Finally, the agency suggested consumers throw away the product or return it to the retailer where they purchased it for a refund.
