Los Angeles Dodgers He once again suffered a wonderful loss in his starting rotation. The left-handed pitcher Blake Snell He was placed on the injured list due to a left elbow injury, a decision announced by the club and with retroactive effect to May 12.

The news arrived a few hours before the start of the Parkway Series against the Los Angeles Angels, matchup for which Snell was scheduled to start. His absence forced the Los Angeles team to modify its plans on the fly, using Will Klein to start a bullpen game in place of the veteran pitcher.

The Dodgers recalled LHP Charlie Barnes and placed LHP Blake Snell on the injured checklist with left elbow loose bodies, backdated to Would Possibly Well 12.

The 33-year-old left-hander had only returned to action last weekend. His debut in the 2026 season took place against the Atlanta Braves, after starting the year also sidelined due to physical problems, in that case due to fatigue in the left shoulder.

A recovery that was interrupted again

Snell’s return lasted just one outing. In that game against Atlanta, the pitcher worked only three innings, in which he allowed five runs, four of them earned, in addition to six hits and two walks. Although he struck out five, he showed a lack of rhythm after several months without activity.

The organization had handled its preparation cautiously during the preseason. After winning the World Series in 2025, the Dodgers opted to delay his return so he could fully recover from shoulder discomfort who had already limited him during his first campaign with the club.

“We surely feel confident he’ll be help with us this year.”

Snell signed with Los Angeles before the 2025 season for five years and $182 million dollarsbut in that first year he was only able to make two starts before spending four months out due to inflammation in the same shoulder. Although he reappeared in the final stretch and participated in the postseason, he was not fully recovered.

Los Angeles roster adjustments

In the corresponding move, the Dodgers called up the left-hander Charlie Barnesrecently acquired from waivers after being released by the Chicago Cubs.

Barnes, 30, had made a brief appearance with Chicago in Major Leaguesallowing four runs in three innings. Before that, he played for the Minnesota Twins in 2021, where he played nine games. He later played for four seasons in the South Korean league and returned to American baseball in 2025.

In Triple-A with Iowa, he recorded a 3.04 ERA in seven appearances this year, figures that led the Dodgers to incorporate him as an immediate alternative in the face of a new absence of Snell, whose medical outlook once again causes concern in the franchise.
