New Mexico authorities confirmed this Thursday the death of the four people who were traveling on a medical plane that crashed near the town of Ruidoso during the early morning.
The aircraft, identified as a Beechcraft King Air 90, had taken off from Roswell Air Center and was heading to Sierra Blanca Regional Airport when the accident occurred around 4:00 am, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported, according to ABC Info
Accident occurred in a remote, wooded area
Jason Burns, administrator of Lincoln County, where the destination airport is located, confirmed at a news conference that none of the people on board survived.
“The four people have been confirmed dead at the scene,” the official stated.
The crash site is located in a remote, forest-covered area in the Capitan Mountains area.according to data from FlightRadar24. Emergency teams, firefighters and police officers responded to the scene after reporting a fire related to the impact of the aircraft.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA launched an investigation to clarify what caused the medical plane crash in New Mexico.
Until now, Authorities have not revealed the identities of the victims or details about the weather conditions at the time of the flight.
Burns also expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the families, loved ones, friends and colleagues of those who lost their lives,” he said.
Federal investigations will seek to determine if there were mechanical failures, visibility problems or other factors that contributed to the air tragedy that occurred near Ruidoso.
