On June 2, the City of Glendale holds elections for the position of City Treasurer, who safeguards public funds, manages cash and investments, and ensures financial operations demonstrate discipline and transparency.

The incumbent since 2013, Rafi Manoukian and David George Gevorkyan, are running.

La Opinión supports Gevorkyan’s candidacy and asks its readers to vote for him.

David George Gevorkyan, public finance professional, has extensive experience in various facets of local government that prepares him for this elected position.

He is on the Consumer Affairs Advisory Commission, an institution that advises the Board of Supervisors and Los Angeles County departments.

He was Glendale Audit Commissioner and Special Assistant to the County Assessor.

Additionally, Gevorkyan is founder and Significant Advocate of Property Taxpayer Advocate, a private consulting firm specializing in reducing the property tax burden for business owners.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from the USC Sol Label School of Public Policy and a BA from CalState Northridge.

“Residents demand more from the City Council than silent, absent and continuous leadership,” Gevorkyan noted in an opinion piece. It aims to safeguard public funds and modernize the old financial system practiced in the city and strive for traditional transparency and accountability, “so that citizens can clearly see how public funds are used,” as it says in a statement.

It emphasizes its commitment “to consumer protection, particularly for older people.”

He is supported by County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian, County Assessor Jeff Prang and State Senator Bob Archuleta. We believe this city of 187,000 deserves a new treasurer and that David George Gevorkyan is the right person.
