One day before the elections of June 6, 2021, the PRI deputy, Paola Garatewas kidnapped for approximately nine hours while running for Congress in the state of Sinaloa.

In an interview with the site La Silla Rota, the deputy said that on Saturday afternoon she went to an alleged meeting of congressional candidates, where she was the only one present.

After leaving the facilities of the League of Agrarian Communities, behind the PRI state headquarters, he went to his campaign office, located on the southeastern outskirts of the city of Culiacán, where was intercepted by a convoy of more than 20 trucks.

She remembers seeing armed and masked men who held her for several hours between Saturday night and Sunday morning, election day.

We are survivors of that narco-choice in which, like me, thousands of people were kidnapped: territorial political operators and people who were part of the Alianza Va por México, at that time formed by the PAN, PRI and PRD parties,” he stated.

He declared that 90% of the party’s electoral structure had been hijacked. This structure plays an indispensable role in electoral supervision by monitoring voting at voting centers, where numerous incidents were also reported.

The PRI legislator affirmed that the United States government is justified in prosecuting 10 officials accused of having links to organized crime in Sinaloa, something that was reflected in the 2021 electoral process.

“If evidence is still missing, as the president has said, then here you have witnesses who survived that narco-election,” he said.

The demand is that the Mexican government comply and make arrestsbecause if the United States government has already fulfilled its part by issuing that arrest warrant to the Mexican government, it is because it fully complied with the entire process,” he emphasized.
