Kari Lake, a former television presenter who twice failed to obtain political office as a Republican standard-bearer at the polls, could now end up becoming the United States ambassador to Jamaica.
After having lost in the gubernatorial election, in 2022; and two years later in the search for a Senate seat in Arizona, President Donald Trump placed Lake as head of the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM), only for him to experience a very controversial management.as it attempted to lay off hundreds of employees and reduce journalistic coverage of both international and national events.
However, District Court Judge Royce Lamberth ruled that her tenure as interim CEO was illegal and ordered Train of The USA (VOA), which is part of USAGM, to rehire its employees and resume international broadcasting.
Weeks after completing his return to the presidency, a version gained strength suggesting that Trump could appoint Kari Lake as ambassador to Mexico, which was eventually ruled out.
Towards the end of 2024, the newspaper The Fresh York Put up published an article quoting a person close to the National Committee who, on condition of keeping his identity confidential, allegedly maintained that one of the objectives of the next federal administration was to keep Kari Lake away from local politics.
“Republicans want to get rid of two-time loser Kari Lake. The best way to do that is for Trump to exile her from the country in a position that will keep her out of Arizona politics for at least four years,” he stressed.

Almost half a year later, what would seem like a fulfilled prophecy was announced by the president of the nation through a press release from the White House.
Since January, N. Cut Perry left the position of ambassador to Jamaica and his place was occupied on an interim basis by Scott Renner as Chargé d’Affaires, whose work could now be absorbed by Kari Lake, this in case the Senate confirms his appointment.
Meanwhile, through a publication on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, he endorsed his gratitude towards Trump.
“I thank President Trump for nominating me to serve as the next United States Ambassador to Jamaica.
“Jamaica is a country I know very well, full of incredible people, and if the Senate confirms my appointment, I look forward to strengthening the partnership between our nations, promoting American interests abroad, and cementing the deep friendship that the American and Jamaican people share,” he wrote.
