A drunk delivery driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his vehicle into a home in Colorado

Delivery driver faces DUI charges after crashing vehicle into Highlands Ranch homea community located south of Denver, in the state of Colorado.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and South Metro Fire Department responded to the crash at Wedgewood Pressure on Sunday, where they found a red Mazda car practically wedged inside the home.

The images released by the authorities showed the vehicle stopped between two sofas in the living room, while the driver’s door was a few meters from a piano. The impact opened a huge hole in one of the sides of the house.

According to authorities, The driver was delivering packages when he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel. He was later charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving.

The house was empty at the time of impact

The authorities indicated that, Despite the magnitude of the crash, no one was inside the home when the accident occurred. No serious injuries were reported either.

Police did not release the identity of the driver.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office indicated on social media that the incident could have ended in tragedy. Tongue-in-cheek, officials commented that this isn’t exactly the kind of “fast delivery” anyone would want to receive.

“We are grateful that this incident did not end in a tragedy,” said the sheriff’s office, which also urged drivers to remain alert and reduce speed to avoid similar accidents.
