A Florida public high school teacher was arrested after a mixture of fentanyl and cocaine was found in his classroom.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident began when school administrators received complaints about alleged narcotics use by Christopher D. Toukonen44, while he was alone in the classroom at Lely High School, without the presence of any students.

The Sheriff’s Office indicated that School non-public searched Toukonen’s backpack and discovered illegal narcotics. They subsequently contacted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to report the situation.

Agents from the Juvenile Relations Bureau and detectives from the Bureau of Vice and Narcotics responded to the scene and, after questioning Toukonen, detained him.

Following his arrest, detectives executed a search warrant on both Toukonen’s classroom and his vehicle, located on school grounds, where no further narcotics were found.

The authorities indicated that both narcotics are classified as controlled substances. Fentanyl, specifically, is a synthetic opioid that has been linked to multiple overdose cases in the United States.

Toukonen faces charges of possession of narcotics paraphernalia. “Thanks to the quick action of the school non-public, our deputies and detectives, this situation was resolved immediately,” stated Sheriff Rambosk. “I congratulate all those involved for their management of this case,” he added.
