Leslie Grace had not recorded an album since 2013, when she released the album “Leslie Grace.” He was 17 years old. He later released several successful singles and an EP. And it was not until 2026 that she wanted to return to the world of music – which, it must be clarified, she never left – but with a more solid, complete, diverse project that shows her, she says, as she is.
“It’s the most vulnerable project to date,” he said of ‘Love, Who Are You?’” “And I think that has a lot to do with the time that’s passed and what I’ve experienced.”
The result was an album of 14 songs that the artist describes as a Latin fusion journey, with rhythms that combine salsa, R&B, tropical Caribbean music, pop and even a ranchera. It is a product that took time, but both Leslie and her team are very satisfied with the result.
“I never took the time to pause and put together a record like this,” he said. “I think I also had to experience many things to put it together.”
Leslie had good reasons for not producing a second album. She was quite busy with her career as an actress, which is going from strength to strength with several projects that she alternates in film and television. The most recent was a role in the film “Campeón Gabacho”, by Mexican director Jonás Cuarón, and where he alternates with artists such as Cheech Marín, Rosario Dawson and Rubén Blades.
That gave him time to think and mature the type of performer he wanted to be and the message he wanted to convey musically.
“Little by little I have been gaining that clarity,” said the artist of Dominican descent born in The Bronx 30 years ago.
And all that he had saved could not be told in a single song, or in isolated songs. That is why he decided to produce a full-length album, as few artists currently do due to the changes that have occurred in recent years in the music industry.
“The artists I admire have released entire projects that deserve to sit down and listen to them from beginning to end,” said the singer, known for her roles in films such as In the Heights and Leave out Bala. “They are artists who take the time to make a complete project and who are telling a story through songs.”
This concept was born from a poem that Leslie started writing when she was 19, and it was a question she asked love if love were a person. Together with a producer he wrote a song and kept it for all these years, until it saw the light, but as part of “Love, who are you?” The other thirteen themes were sort of answers to the initial theme question.
Leslie is looking forward to going on tour with her new field cloth, and hopes to announce dates for her performances soon. He plans to make reveals without neglecting his acting commitments.
“I hope to be able to sing these songs live, be on stage and do different versions of the songs,” he said. “I’ve waited a long time to share, so I’m ready“.
