Just a few days after a letter written by Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán from a US prison to request his extradition to Mexico, a new letter issued by the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
In said message, written on a sheet of notebook paper, the drug trafficker insists on his transfer to Mexican territory.
“My name is Joaquín Guzmán and I am fighting for an extradition release back to Mexico. Today I have written several letters regarding the fairness of my appeal at the next date to obtain equal treatment under the law,” the letter reads.

The letter is dated April 28, and was received by the New York Court on May 6, as can be seen in a stamp at the top.
“During the process of my appeal, the possibility of a new trial has been consideredand also that the parties from both countries can coordinate policies to facilitate my return to my country,” added El Chapo.
This is not the first time that the former criminal leader has sent letters requesting to serve his sentence in his country of origin.
However, federal Judge Brian Cogan, who originally sentenced him, denied all previously submitted petitions.
Guzman Loera He is serving a life sentence in the ADX Florence prisonin Colorado, after a trial in which he was accused of 10 counts of drug trafficking, weapons and participating in a conspiracy to commit money laundering.
