Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) opted to reverse its accelerated training program for newly recruited agents with the aim of sending them as soon as possible to detain immigrants without status simply.
With the aim of strengthening the campaign of mass deportations ordered by President Donald Trump, express training had been implemented aimed at the most new entrants into the federal agency.
However, in a report published by the website Politicalwhere it cites a pair of officials linked to the Trump administration under the condition of keeping their identity under wraps, it is indicated that ICE renounced the accelerated training of its inner most due to the problems that arose at the beginning of the year in Minneapolis, when the inexperience of a pair of agents caused the death of two American citizens while they were protesting against operations to detain foreigners considered dangerous to the country’s security.
Thanks to the funds from the legislative package promoted by President Trump in 2025, it was possible to hire more inner most to incorporate them into the strategy of detaining immigrants with police records to send them as soon as possible to their nations of origin.
However, Complaints began to emerge linked to the use of excessive force in ICE operations and, due to the lack of response from the federal government, several rallies took place that went out of control.
Presumably, The main problem with this was due to the basic training that new Ice agents received, which was reduced to only 72 days.

Hence this program has been paused to redesign it with the aim of better training ICE’s inner most.
Under this approach, training protocols for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) division are under review.
However, to continue moving forward with the agency’s operations implemented nationwide, it is now contemplated sending veteran agents to accompany the newly admitted inner most and teach them how to react to different adverse conditions when detaining immigrants.
