This week, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced to consumers about the recall of Utz potato chips due to a high risk of salmonella contamination.
According to the health entity, The recall concerns Zapp’s and Soiled brand packaged potato chips from manufacturer Utz Quality Meals, which reported that the food contains a seasoning based on powdered milk from an external supplier, which could have the bacteria.
To date, neither the FDA nor the manufacturer have received reports of people getting sick from consuming this product; However, the agency warned that “Consumers who have these foods should not consume them and should throw them away,” said and specified here which are the recalled products with their expiration dates and UPC code.
In the statementthe FDA reported that “Salmonella is a microorganism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Infected people usually present with fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. and even cause more serious diseases, such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.”
